Child Safety & Instructor Conduct Policy

1. Purpose and scope
These standards protect every student under 18 across online 1:1 and group classes, trials, workshops and in-person events. They apply to instructors, staff, contractors, volunteers and representatives.
2. Instructor vetting
Before teaching a minor, instructors provide government-issued identity, a signed conduct declaration and at least one verified professional or academic reference. Police verification is requested where reasonably obtainable.
3. Conduct during classes
Classes with minors use SURIX’s official platform. Instructors maintain professional, respectful, age-appropriate conduct and may not move lessons or private communication to personal accounts or unofficial channels.
4. Communication and recordings
Scheduling and feedback use official SURIX channels. Instructors may not privately connect with minors on social media, independently record a child, or share a child’s image, voice or performance.
5. Parent and guardian involvement
A parent or lawful guardian provides consent for students under 18 and may observe a class with advance notice. For children under approximately eight, an adult should remain reasonably nearby.
6. Reporting and response
Report any safeguarding concern immediately to Preethi Ramesh at support@surixmusicacademy.com. SURIX acknowledges reports within 24 hours, takes proportionate precautionary action, reviews confidentially and contacts relevant authorities where required.
7. Non-retaliation and confidentiality
No person faces adverse consequences for raising a good-faith concern. Information is shared only with those who need it to address the concern, while preserving any legal reporting duties.
8. Review
The policy is reviewed at least annually. Every instructor receives it at onboarding and reconfirms acknowledgement after material updates.
