Terms of Service & Refund Policy

About these Terms
These Terms govern your use of surixmusicacademy.com, our free music tools, blogs, trial booking, group class registration and the online music education services of SURIX Music Enterprises (trading as SURIX Music Academy), Udyam Registration Number UDYAM-TN-08-0000377, A-304, Casa Grand Bellissimo, Kannan Colony, CPWD Quarters, Alandur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu - 600016 ("SURIX", "we", "us"). By using the website, booking a trial, registering or paying, you (or the parent or guardian of a minor) agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Enrolled students also follow the Terms in the student app at app.surixmusicacademy.com.
1. Eligibility and minors
Learners of all ages are welcome. For anyone under 18, registration, payment and consent must be given by a parent or legal guardian, who confirms they have legal authority and consents to class participation, communication and session recording for child safety.
2. Our services
SURIX teaches Carnatic, Hindustani and Western vocal and instrumental music through live online 1:1 and group classes, free trial sessions, events, Launchpad programmes and practice tools. SURIX is the evolution of Rethink Raaga; past experience and testimonials relate to work carried forward from that brand. Schedules, trainers, curriculum and fees may change with reasonable notice. We do not guarantee learning outcomes, exam results (for example Trinity, ABRSM or RSL) or certification recognition.
3. Free music tools and website content
Our Digital Piano, Harmonium, Metronome and Guitar Tuner are free learning aids. Pitch and timing guidance depends on your device and room and is not a formal assessment. Blog articles are general information, not professional career, financial or purchasing advice.
4. Enrolment, fees and regional availability
Submitting a trial or registration form does not by itself confirm enrolment; SURIX confirms after review and payment. Learners in India are charged in INR, inclusive of applicable GST. Learners outside India are charged a standard USD price; any local-currency figure is approximate. Group classes are currently available only to learners located in India; international learners enrol in 1:1 classes. Payments are processed by PCI-DSS compliant partners such as Razorpay; SURIX never stores full card, UPI or banking details.
5. Refund and cancellation policy
Free trial (1:1 only): no payment is taken; cancel or reschedule up to 4 hours before it starts. 1:1 packages: cancellation 15 days or more before the start date earns a 100% refund minus any non-recoverable gateway fee; between 7 days and 1 day before, a 25% refund; less than 24 hours before or after the package starts, no refund. Group classes are final once payment is confirmed. If a group does not reach minimum numbers, we offer a full refund or a transfer. If SURIX cannot hold a class, you receive a free replacement. EU/UK statutory cooling-off rights apply where required. Approved refunds return to the original payment method within 7-10 business days; email support@surixmusicacademy.com with your transaction reference.
6. Scheduling and attendance
Class times are shown in Indian Standard Time unless stated otherwise and classes are normally 60 minutes. 1:1 learners may reschedule once per calendar month with at least 24 hours' notice. Classes missed without notice are not made up, except documented medical emergencies approved by SURIX. Late joining time is not extended.
7. Intellectual property and anti-scraping
All website content, curriculum, sheet music, images, videos, tools, branding and the SURIX name belong to SURIX or its licensors. You may not copy, download, scrape, crawl for data collection, frame, screen-record, republish or resell any SURIX material, or use it to train AI models, without our written permission. You keep ownership of your own original performances.
8. Recordings and promotional use
Classes and events may be recorded for child safety and quality checks. We will not use a learner's image, voice or performance on our website, Instagram, Facebook or YouTube without separate, explicit consent, which can be withdrawn any time without affecting classes. You must not record or share any class or another member's content without our written consent.
9. Conduct and communications
Be respectful to trainers, staff and other learners. Do not arrange private lessons or payments outside SURIX with our trainers. By booking or registering, you agree to receive service messages such as class reminders by email, WhatsApp, SMS or in-app notification. Marketing messages are optional. Abuse, harassment, fraud, attempts to attack or disrupt the website, or repeated breaches may lead to suspension without refund.
10. Liability
We work to keep the website and classes reliable but cannot promise uninterrupted service. To the extent allowed by law, SURIX's total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the specific month or package concerned, and we are not liable for indirect loss, currency differences or events beyond our reasonable control. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or your local consumer law.
11. Changes, governing law and general
We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified where reasonably possible. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, with exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, without removing mandatory consumer rights. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any concern informally. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Ticking a consent box is a valid electronic acceptance under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
