A harmonium is a free-reed keyboard instrument. Air from its bellows moves across metal reeds, and each pressed key opens a pathway that lets a particular pitch speak. The result is a warm, sustained sound closely connected to the player’s touch and airflow.
Across Indian classical, devotional and popular music, the harmonium is widely used for vocal accompaniment, swara practice and melodic exploration. This browser version gives you a quick way to hear pitch relationships and practise phrases wherever you are.
